PALATINE, Ill. (WLS) -- Heading off to college can be a great unknown for virtually all students, but some come from backgrounds that make them better prepared than others.
A new program associated with Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 provides mentors for select first-generation college students from low-income families. The mentors will work with the students for the entirety of their collegiate careers, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face as often the first person in their families to attend college.
