Woman fatally struck by SUV in unincorporated Ingleside

INGLESIDE, Ill. (WLS) -- A 70-year-old woman was killed after being hit by an SUV while crossing the road in unincorporated Ingleside Saturday night, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman was crossing Rollins Road near Blackhawk Avenue when she was hit by a GMC Yukon at about 8:35 p.m., police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the woman as Bonnie Tarkowski of Ingleside The driver of the SUV was uninjured, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Technical Crash Investigations Unit is investigating.
