Pedestrian fatally struck by Metra train in Hanover Park

HANOVER PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by an inbound train on Metra's Milwaukee District West line shortly after it left the Hanover Park station Tuesday morning.

Train No. 2230 originated in Big Timber at 9:36 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 10:50 a.m. The train hit the pedestrian around 9:55 a.m. That person's identity has not been released.

MD-W trains were stopped in both directions near Hanover Park as crews investigated. Service resumed with delays by around 11:30 a.m.
