PHOTOS: Baby bison born at Fermilab; herd now at 18

BATAVIA, Ill. (WLS) -- Fermilab in west suburban Batavia welcomed its first baby bison of the year on Tuesday.

The birth increases the size of the herd to 18.

As many as 14 more are expected to be born before early June.

The bison herd was established on the grounds of Fermilab in 1969 as a symbol of the Midwestern prairie.
