Driver shot after speeding towards police during traffic stop, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A police officer shot a driver during a traffic stop in the city's Chatham neighborhood, officials said.

Police say the driver was in a stolen vehicle and allegedly sped towards the officers when they approached the car Saturday night near 78th and King Drive.

One officer fired, hitting the driver. That person is in stable condition.

Police also arrested a passenger in the car for allegedly carrying a loaded gun.
