Man shot, critically injured outside Southwest Side motel: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Wisconsin man died after being shot while sitting in a car outside a Southwest Side motel Friday morning, officials said.

Police said the shooting happened near West 49th Street and South Archer Avenue in the Archer Heights neighborhood just before 5:30 a.m.

A 33-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle when someone approached him, took out a gun and fired shots, police said.

The victim, shot in the body multiple times, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed the man died from the shooting.

He was identified as Kewan Clark of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

There is no one in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
