Man, woman try to lure kids into vehicle with candy: Batavia police

BATAVIA, Ill. (WLS) -- Batavia police issued a warning on Monday about an attempt to lure children into a vehicle.

It happened in a parking lot at 1303 East Wilson Street on Thursday just before 6 p.m.

A witness told police that a man and woman in a white Jeep SUV drove up to a group of kids and repeatedly asked them if they wanted candy.

A parent overheard and yelled at the man and woman to get away from the kids, and they drove off.

The suspects' car had a Hello Kitty steering wheel cover, a Hello Kitty sticker on the gas tank cover and other Hello Kitty items inside.

Batavia police are asking anyone with information to give them a call at 630-454-2500.
