Child among 5 critically injured in Dan Ryan Expressway crash on South Side: Chicago fire officials

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A child was among five people who were critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday evening on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago's South Side, officials said.

The crash happened on Interstate 90 at 47th Street, near Bronzeville.

Chicago Fire Department officials said a child was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in serious to critical condition.

At least four other people were also taken to hospitals for injuries, also in critical condition, CFD said.

Multiple vehicles appeared to have been involved in the expressway crash.

No further information about the crash was immediately available.
