Driver in custody after crashing into building, multiple hurt, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A driver crashed an SUV into a building on Chicago's Southwest Side on Sunday, video and police said.

The crash happened at about 3:30 a.m. in the 5400 Block of South Pulaski Road, police said.

CPD said a 25-year-old man was driving a black SUV northbound on Pulaski, ignored a traffic signal, and crashed into a blue pickup truck.

Video from the scene shows the black SUV crashed into the front of a building.

The 25-year-old was taken to an area hospital, and is expected to be OK. He was also placed into custody, and charges are pending, police said.

CPD said there were three other passengers in the SUV, two women and a man; all refused emergency medical services, police said.

The man driving the blue pickup truck refused help, police said.

A female passenger in the truck was taken to Mt. Sinai, and is expected to be OK, police said.

No other information was available.
