Active SWAT scene in Chicago's South Shore

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 45-year-old Chicago man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing shots at police officers during a barricade situation Sunday in the city's South Shore neighborhood.

Larry Hochmuth Jr. has also been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault of a peace officer, reckless discharge of a firearm, domestic battery and more, Chicago police said Wednesday.

Hochmuth was arrested about 10:05 p.m. Sunday in the 2700-block of East 76th Street after reportedly firing a gun at a 44-year-old woman before barricading himself in a home on the block.

The SWAT incident began at about 5:02 a.m.

He also fired a gun at several SWAT officers, police said.

No one was injured.

Hochmuth lives in the same block, where the incident took place.

He's due in court Wednesday.
