6 arrested after windows smashed at downtown Rolex store: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police officers investigated a smash-and-grab theft at a downtown Rolex store Friday afternoon.

The Mag Mile is well-trafficked with people from near and far, so the scene drew a lot of spectators as police remained at the Rolex store on North Michigan Avenue.

The crime happened around 2:37 p.m. in the middle of a busy Mag Mile at Michigan and Huron, police said.

There was glass on the ground and at least two exterior windows were broken at a Rolex store.

Four suspects smashed the windows before entering the store and stealing merchandise, police said. They fled the scene in a vehicle, but six suspects were later arrested and the stolen items were recovered.

ABC7 saw officers going in and out of the store, speaking with employees while also turning away customers.

No further information was immediately available.
