1 charged in fatal shooting of Pastor Corey Brooks' godson, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder in the shooting of the godson of community activist Pastor Corey Brooks, Chicago police said Wednesday.

The suspect, who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting one year ago, is expected in court Wednesday.

Christian Tucker was 21 when he was killed in a shooting in the 7200-block of South Washtenaw in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on August 24, 2024, police said.

Brooks said Tucker was a young man with a bright future ahead of him, as he was playing basketball at a junior college and preparing to make the jump to a four-year university.
