Man shot in attempted robbery in West Ridge, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot in an attempted robbery on Chicago's North Side, according to police.

The shooting happened at about 10:06 p.m. on Wednesday in the 6400-block of N. Campbell Avenue, police said.

A 48-year-old man was walking outside when a man tried to rob him, police said.

The victim yelled for help, and the suspect shot in the man's direction.

The 48-year-old man was shot in the right arm and was taken to an area hospital. He is expected to be OK.

Nobody is in custody.

A few hours later, an 18-year-old woman was shot to death near Loyola Beach, police said.

Police did not say if the shootings were related.
