Student shot to death after west suburban HS dismissal ID'd: officials

CICERO, Ill. (WLS) -- Officials have identified a teen who was shot and killed after dismissal at a west suburban high school on Thursday.

The shooting happened in the 2100-block of South 59th Avenue in Cicero around 3:20 p.m., shortly after dismissal at the nearby Morton East High School.

Police officers found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot, officials said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the teen as Johan Adaree-Sanchez.

Morton East High School issued a statement on Facebook confirming that one of their students died in the shooting.

The statement also says "there are many reports circulating on social media that are inaccurate."

Cicero police are investigating, and no arrests have been made.
