Metra said the fire happened at the University Park substation.

Since about 1:30 p.m. there was no service to and from the Richton Park and University Park stops.

Metra told ABC7 Chicago the issues would likely persist into Friday morning.

A spokesperson said they were unable to secure buses to aid commuters.

All service on the Metra Electric will originate from the Matteson stop.

Some trains could be canceled during the morning rush hour, as well, Metra said.

ComEd and Metra are working to get power back up.
