
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teenage boy was shot while sitting in a car during a gathering on the city's Southwest Side early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood's 5100-block of South Major Avenue around 2:30 a.m.
Someone opened fire, and the 16-year-old boy, who was parked, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg as he drove away, police said.
The teen was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
The shooter fled the scene.
Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
