Metra UPNW line delayed after train, vehicle crash in Arlington Heights, officials say

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) -- A Metra train line was delayed Saturday evening after a crash in the north suburbs.

The Union Pacific Northwest Line (UPNW) line is experiencing delays after a train and a vehicle crashed near Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights, Metra said.

Metra issued the following alerts to passengers of trains in both directions on the UPNW line:
"UPNW train #725, scheduled to arrive Harvard at 8:20 PM, will not operate past Cumberland due to a vehicle struck by a train. Train #727 will accommodate customers to Harvard. Visit MetraTracker.com for the location of your train."
"UPNW train #732, scheduled to depart Harvard at 8:35 PM, will not operate from Harvard to Mount Prospect due to a vehicle struck by train 723. Train #734, scheduled to depart Harvard at 9:35 PM will accommodate passengers."

ABC7 has reached out to local authorities for more details about the crash.
