FRANKFORT, Ill. (WLS) -- Misty McMichael, the widow of late Chicago Bears great Steve "Mongo" McMichael, is facing a domestic battery charge on Friday, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office said deputies were called to a Frankfort home on Kuse Road for a welfare check after someone hung up on a 911 call just before 5:30 a.m. Friday.
McMichael, 55, and a man both told responding deputies that they had been drinking and arguing for hours.
The man said the fight became physical, and McMichael choked him, the sheriff's office said. McMichael said the argument did not become physical, but deputies said they noticed injuries and scratches on the man's neck.
Deputies also spoke to a witness who said the two had been arguing for hours. The witness said they heard a lot of noise and banging before finding both adults on the kitchen floor.
McMichael was arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, the sheriff's office said. She was transported to the Adult Detention Facility.
Her late husband, a legendary Bears defensive tackle, died at age 67 after a battle with ALS last year.
