CHICAGO (WLS) -- Pope Leo XIV met with Mar Awa III, the leader of the Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East on Monday, according to the Vatican News.
The Vatican shared a photo appearing to show Awa III gifting Pope Leo a Chicago Cubs jersey.
Awa III is also from Chicago; it's unclear if the gift was made as a friendly rivalry joke, since Pope Leo is known to be long-time White Sox fan.
Regardless, Pope Leo is holding the jersey in the photo smiling.

The leaders met to mark decades of official dialogue between the two churches.
Referencing the 1994 Joint Declaration of Pope John Paul II, the pope reiterated how "communion presupposes unanimity concerning the content of the faith, the sacraments, and the constitution of the Church."
