CHICAGO (WLS) -- Here's a quick porch pirate tip as the holiday shopping season gears up.

A new Insurify survey finds 95% of holiday shoppers will buy at least some gifts online this year. That's up from 89% last year.

Nearly half of Cyber Monday shoppers, 49%, say they've had a package stolen.

Protect your packages:
-Have items sent to a secure locker or your workplace, use tracking alerts and signature requirements, and install a video doorbell or camera.

-If you're traveling, ask a neighbor to grab your deliveries.

-Remember, while home or renters insurance can cover stolen packages, it may not be worth filing a claim unless the item's value is higher than your deductible.
