CHICAGO (WLS) -- Here's a quick text scam tip
There is a new warning about text messages that look like they're coming from AAA, but they're not.
It claims your "emergency roadside kit" is waiting and urges you to click a link to confirm.
Cybersecurity company "Guardio" says these messages have doubled in recent months.
The link can take you to a fake website built to steal your information or install malware.
AAA says it does not send unsolicited texts asking you to click links or provide sensitive information.
If you get a message like this, don't click. Go directly to AAA's official website or app instead.
Never click on unexpected links.
