BURR RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A grandmother from southwest suburban Burr Ridge is one lucky lady! She just won $1 million playing the Illinois Lottery.

Jadwiga Nowakowska, 53, matched the first five numbers of the March 16 Powerball drawing. The winning numbers were 10 - 12 - 13 - 46 -50 - (21).

"I randomly chose some numbers a few months ago and I've been playing them ever since. I never imagined they would be so lucky," Nowakowska said.

Nowakowska was born in Poland. She has three children and two grandchildren. She said she plans to invest her winnings and help provide for her grandchildren's education.

She bought the winning Powerball ticket at the Speedway on 91st and Route 83 in Burr Ridge. The gas station received $10,000 for selling the ticket - one percent of the prize.
