Chicago is on the road to bankruptcy, Rauner says
Gov. Bruce Rauner says the city is going down the drain financially, and voters must consider the city's financial state when they go to the polls.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A new state-wide poll shows Gov. Bruce Rauner's approval rating is dropping after a little more than two months in office.

The Southern Illinois University poll shows Rauner's overall approval rating is at 36 percent. He's still drawing support from republicans, where his approval rating is still above 60 percent.

The poll shows his strongest support comes from downstate republicans.

Rauner is Illinois' first Republican governor since George Ryan left office in 2003.
