CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new Catholic school on Chicago's Northwest Side will be named Pope Francis Global Academy, Archbishop Blase Cupich announced Saturday.

Hundreds of parents and parishioners helped select the name from a group of four finalists.

The new school is the result of consolidating four current schools: Our Lady of Victory, St. Cornelius, St. Pascal and St. Tarcissus.

"What we want to do in this approach is to make sure that we have an excellent Catholic school system provided for the largest number of children and families," Cupich said.

Pope Francis Global Academy will open on two campuses in the fall of 2016, offering classes for students in preschool through eighth grade.
