CHICAGO (WLS) -- Rev. Jesse Jackson is joining the effort to keep Dyett High School in Bronzeville open.

Parents and activists have been fighting the plan to close it, saying that the closure would leave the neighborhood without an open enrollment high school.

The Chicago Public School board voted to phase out Dyett, blaming poor academic performance. Next year's senior class is scheduled to be its last.
