Explosive court documents reveal "Modern Family's" Sarah Hyland filed a restraining order Tuesday against her ex-boyfriend, Matt Prokop. Hyland states in court documents that Prokop was physically and verbally abusive to her, including yelling verbally explicit remarks at and choking the young actress.
Hyland states in the documents first obtained by TMZ that "His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life."
The court documents also reveal that Hyland's "Modern Family" mom, Julie Bowen, witnessed several incidents of the alleged assault, and Hyland invited Bowen over to help her peacefully end the relationship with her boyfriend. However, Prokop reacted negatively to Hyland's invitation of Bowen and others, where Julie later told Hyland that she wasn't safe around her boyfriend.
In court documents Hyland states that after the breakup, Prokop "relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats."
Prokop entered a rehab facility in August and left on September 21, where an official at the facility contacted Hyland and suggested she get a restraining order, the documents state. An L.A. judge granted a temporary restraining order requires Prokop to stay 100 yards away from Hyland and her dog at all times.
Prokop, also an actor, has appeared in "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" and played Hyland's date in one episode of "Modern Family" in 2012.
