CHICAGO (WLS) -- A South Side elementary school was evacuated Friday morning after a report of a fire.
Chicago firefighters responded to Douglas Taylor Elementary School in the 9900-block of South Avenue H just before 11:15 a.m. They found a slight haze throughout the building.
The school was evacuated and one student who has asthma was sent to the hospital as a precaution, fire officials said.
Firefighters ventilated the building and are investigating what caused the smoke. It may have been an electrical problem.
Students and staff went back inside within the hour. They plan to finish the rest of the school day.
