FAIRFAX, Va. (WLS) -- A pair of engineering undergrads in Virginia think they've found a new way to fight fires.

Using sound waves, the duo from George Mason University in Virginia are able to suffocate flames.

In the short term, the students hope to develop a stove-top sound wave extinguisher for the kitchen. Eventually, they'd like to create drones with the extinguishers for use in forest fires.
