CHICAGO -- Two people were injured when a semi ran a red light and crashed into a car and house Saturday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The semi was westbound on 59th Street about 12:15 p.m. when it ran a red light at Union, according to Chicago police.

It then struck a car before crashing into the house in the 700-block of West 59th Street, officials said.

Two occupants of the car refused medical transport at the scene and told paramedics they would take themselves to a hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford. They were in good condition.

The semi driver Minwear Atik, 24, of suburban Hickory Hills, was charged with one misdemeanor charge of disobeying red circular steady signal stop.
