CHICAGO (WLS) -- Community activists and residents held a rally in the South Shore neighborhood on Wednesday, saying they've seen too much gun violence in their community.

Protesters pointed to several recent shootings, as well as cases where police have used lethal force. They say politicians need to do more for their neighborhood.

"Our spirits are not broken. We're out here to challenge our elected officials because they're not doing enough. And we're not coming to beg. We're demanding that they act too," said

Residents say they want to see officials invest in new resources for young people.
