Funeral held for Steven Smith, officer killed in wrong-way crash

CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- The Chicago Ridge police officer killed during a wrong-way crash last weekend was laid to rest Saturday.

Steven Smith, 27, was heading home from a family wedding when the accident occurred.

Police say a woman driving was going south in the northbound lanes on I-294 when her vehicle crashed into the car Smith was traveling in.

No charges have been filed.
