NEW YORK -- Katherine Slingluff is the millionth finisher in the history of the New York City Marathon.

The Brooklyn resident came across the line in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 36 seconds.

She wins guaranteed entry into the race for life and a shopping spree for marathon gear. She also will be able to get her photo taken with the winners from Sunday's race.

Going into Sunday, 974,257 people had completed the 26.2-mile course.

Julissa Sarabia of Queens was the race's millionth starter last year, which was her first marathon. She didn't plan to ever run another, but when she earned a guaranteed entry into this year's event, she changed her mind and finished in just under 5:30.
