Tim Burton wasn't alive when Pinocchio and Snow White were first released. If he was, though, you can imagine that the famed filmmaker would have envisioned Disney's these animated classics quite differently.
Los Angeles-based artist Andrew Tarusov reimagined classic Disney movies like 101 Dalmatians, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King in the style of Tim Burton. Each of Tarusov's images pays homage to the director's dark and gothic style, with classic Disney characters looking like bonafide members of the Burton's animated cast and crew. Instead of being followed around by seven dwarfs, Snow White is now palling around with spooky bats and spiders in Tarusov's drawing. Rather than Rafiki holding Simba on Pride Rock, The Lion King animals are now situated in front of the same full moon as Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
"I love how Burton's style looks vintage, chic, and cute all at the same time," Tarusov told HelloGiggles. "His work is often marketed as 'horror' movies, but at the same time, it's not a horror... It could be any genre."
The artist shared his Burton-inspired collection on Facebook on Jan. 23, where it has earned over 25,000 likes and 35,000 shares.
"Now I want Tim Burton to actually go and make all of these movies!" commented one Facebook user.
"Tim Burton needs to do a remake of these movies!!!" "I think they'd make great movies," wrote another. "I love the originals, but I would love these as well."
