Mannheim Road closed after train derails in Melrose Park

MELROSE PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Mannheim Road is closed between St. Charles Road and Lake Street after a freight train derailed in a Melrose Park rail yard.

The train derailed Tuesday afternoon after one of its cars struck a pillar of Mannheim Road. No injuries were reported.

The derailment on the Union Pacific freight line does not affect Metra trains.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.
