Uber to lease cars to drivers in city's South, West Sides

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Uber is creating jobs and expanding service to Chicago's South Side by offering to lease cars to drivers on a weekly basis.

A huge crowd turned out for a job fair at Saint Sabina Church Thursday morning. It was part of the launch of Uber's new "Xchange" program.

Father Michael Pfleger says opportunities like this can lead to safer neighborhoods.

Uber says it hopes to hire 10,000 drivers on the city's South and West Sides in the next year.
