Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois. * WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 1 PM CST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility in falling snow. The hazardous conditions could impact portions of the Thursday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates may approach an inch per hour for a few hour period this morning. Winds will increase into this afternoon with gusts sa high as 50 mph after the bulk of the snow falls.More

Scattered light snow showers will continue through midday with little in the way of snow accumulation. An area of more steady snowfall is then expecting to drop southward across southwest Lower Michigan, northwest Indiana, and portions of north central Indiana this afternoon into early this evening. Slushy snow accumulations of an inch or two are possible this afternoon. While most of this accumulation will be across grassy areas and elevated surfaces, some slick spots are possible on roadways today into the evening commute. The combination of snow and gusty west southwest winds this afternoon to 25 to 35 mph will also reduce visibilities to around one half of a mile at times. Motorists should exercise caution and be prepared for variable travel conditions this afternoon into early this evening.More
