Boy, 16, killed in West Englewood shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in the West Englewood neighborhood Friday night.

Police said he was riding in a car near 65th and Hamilton around 9 p.m.

While heading through an alley, police say two people came up and opened fire.

He was hit in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not hurt.

The boy was identified as Melvin Cook, of the 5700 block of South Calumet Avenue.

No one is in custody.
