Former Ald. William Beavers released from prison

Former Cook County Commissioner and Chicago Ald. William Beavers was released from prison Friday.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons reports Beavers, 79, was released from the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, MN.

He was serving a 6-month sentence for tax evasion.

Prosecutors said he failed to report campaign money as income after he used the cash to gamble.
