Woman's body found in ditch near Joliet; homicide investigation underway

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- Will County Sheriff's police are investigating the death of a woman found in a ditch along the side the road in unincorporated Joliet Township.

She was found just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday near Zurich and Brandon roads in the southwest suburb. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

Investigators are using fingerprints to try and figure out who she is. The sheriff's office said the woman appears to be African American.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
