WOODRIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A married couple died in a shooting at an apartment complex in southwest suburban Woodridge, police said. A third victim was critically wounded.

Woodridge police and paramedics from nearby Lisle responded just after 11:55 p.m. Monday to a report of shots fired at apartment #2A at the Hawthorne Ridge Apartments in the 7700-block of Fox Street.

"I just heard like, vaguely did that sound like gun shots. I came to my window, next thing I know I hear the police. I came to my door, it was a bunch of police out here," said Ramon Jones, a neighbor.

They found a man and a woman shot to death in the living room. Their identities have not been released.

A second woman was found in the back of the apartment. She had also been shot.

She was transported to a local trauma center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Police recovered a gun at the scene. The shooting occurred after a domestic incident. There is no risk to the public.

Investigators said the couple lived in Bellwood, and the woman who was killed had moved into the apartment in Woodridge several days ago, following a domestic dispute.

Neighbors said the two women had children living inside the apartment, who may have witnessed everything.

"The police pulled them out, so they were in the hallway crying. Police were like, 'Can they come in?' They didn't have any clothes. They were in underwear. So I wrapped them in blankets," said Kandice Gillespie, another neighbor. "It's devastating. I've been out here 11 years. I've known nothing to really happen in this community. It's usually quiet safe and quiet."

Police say they are investigating the deaths of the couple as a murder-suicide.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Woodridge police at 630-719-4740.
