Republic Windows workers not rehired as promised

October 19, 2009 (CHICAGO) Back in April, Vice President Biden was in Chicago praising the company for the green jobs created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The company promised to rehire all 250 workers by summer.

Two major problems seem to stand in the way. First, stimulus funds and tax credits for weatherization have not generated the skyrocketing demand envisioned for the company's energy efficient windows.

Second, the alleged misdeeds of former Republic Windows Chief Richard Gillman, who was arrested last month, destroyed relationships with potential buyers and suppliers.
