CHICAGO (WLS) -- A suspect fired a gun at another vehicle on the Bishop Ford Freeway Wednesday night on Chicago's South Side, shutting down the highway for hours overnight, Illinois State Police said.

The victim told police that he or she was driving north on Interstate 94, near 115th Street about 11:40 p.m., when a suspect fired a gun at the individual, while driving, police said.

The victim was not injured, and the suspect drove away, police said.

Illinois State Police initially said the person was shot.

The victim walked into a Chicago police station later to report the shooting.

Police did not immediately provide any additional information about the victim, including his or her age or gender.

It's also not clear what led up to the shooting.

Police shut down northbound I-94 from 130th to 111th streets about 12:10 a.m. Thursday to investigate.

All lanes reopened just before 3:50 a.m.

Police did not say if anyone was in custody.
