DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Downers Grove police are investigating, after over 20 commercial burglaries were reported in the area early Monday morning.
Officers responded about 3:40 a.m. to the 2900-block of Finley Road for a report of a commercial burglar alarm, police said.
As police checked that location and the surrounding businesses, they found about 20 more burglary scenes throughout the Butterfield Road and Ogden Avenue retail corridors, police said.
No one was in custody later Monday.
Police did not immediately provide any additional information about who might have been involved in the string of burglaries.
Plywood covered the broken glass at restaurants all over Downers Grove later Monday.
Most of the burglaries happened between 3 and 4 a.m., when the stores were closed, and no one was around. But security cameras captured footage at several locations.
A suspect was caught on video using a large chunk of concrete to smash the glass door of a liquor store.

In the video, he gets in, jumps over the counter and goes to the cash register. Another suspect is seen following him in and helps collect the cash.
Owner Chandresh Patel said they got away with a few hundred dollars, but they caused much more than that in damage to the store. The owner is grateful no one was hurt.
"Disappointment, sure, but the good thing, they did not hurt my employees. That's why I'm happy," Patel said.
Down the street at Buffalo Wild Wings, broken glass was being cleaned up after a similar burglary.
And a couple doors down at McAlister's Deli, they not only broke the window, but the concrete chunk put a hole in the wall. The thieves got away with nothing, however, because the cash registers were empty.
"They did not get away with anything. Just came around the counters and went straight back out," McAlister's manager Manish Patel said.
All the burglaries were within about a mile of the downtown area.
Numerous businesses got security camera video showing a similar scene: After breaking in through the glass front door, the suspects immediately went for the cash register. In many cases, they left other valuables, like electronics, untouched. They also got away with a small amount of cash from a Subway sandwich shop.
"I'm a franchisee. I'm not owner of 50 or 80 franchises where I can afford a setback like this," Subway owner Nizar Tharani said.
Police told several of the victims they believe the suspects got away in at least one stolen vehicle.
