2 injured in Long Grove head-on crash

A head-on crash in northwest suburban Long Grove injured two people Sunday morning.

LONG GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- A head-on crash in northwest suburban Long Grove injured two people Sunday morning.

The crash involving two minivans occurred before 8 a.m. Sunday at Old Route 53 and Hicks Road in Long Grove, according to a statement from the Long Grove Fire Protection District.

There was "heavy front end damage to both vehicles," the statement said.

One of the drivers was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and the driver of the other minivan was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, the statement said. Their conditions were not immediately known. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

The accident is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office, which could not be immediately reached for more information Sunday afternoon.
