Chicago nun wins 'Chopped', donates $10K prize

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago nun sliced her way to the top of the reality TV show "Chopped" and is using her $10,000 prize to help Chicago's Humboldt Park community.

Sister Alicia Torres won with her spin on a traditional Thanksgiving feast. In one of her food challenges, she whipped up turkey quesadillas with pico de gallo, sour cream and mashed potatoes. She admits she's pretty creative in the kitchen.

"Sometimes when I'm cooking, there's not an ingredient that I need. So for example, I was making some frosting, I'm allergic to dairy, but we had goat cheese and I was making a cheese frosting so and we didn't have anything. I thought would taste good with it, so there was chardonnay so I threw some of that in there," Sister Torres said.

Sister Torres gave her prize to the Our Lady of the Angels Mission to provide home-cooked meals for people in need.
