Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter Desiree are facing first degree murder charges for allegedly killing 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, who was 9 months pregnant, and are also charged in the murder of her baby who was taken from her womb.
Clarisa Figueroa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, is charged with covering it up, but maintains his innocence.
The 19-year-old victim's husband, Yovanny Lopez, was seen clenching his fists and other family members wiped away tears as attorneys for defendants Clarisa Figueroa and Desiree Figueroa asked for a gag order. The two women are also charged with the murder of Ochoa-Lopez's baby. Outside court, Ochoa-Lopez's family fired back.
"Hearing today a judge even consider to place a gag order on our free speech is so un-American, so un-Constitutional," said Julie Contreras, of the League of United Latin American Citizens.
Defendant Piotr Bobak's attorney wouldn't yet say if he'll support that motion, adding he believes the state cannot prove his client's guilt.
"The state will not be able to show in any manner that he had any knowledge," said Hal Garfinkle, Bobak's attorney.
Judge Peggy Chiampis said she will rule after discussing further, adding the right to a fair trial is "paramount."

Clarisa is accused of luring Ochoa-Lopez to her home back in May with the promise of free baby clothes and a stroller. She then allegedly strangled her and removed the baby from her womb. She pleaded not guilty.
Ochoa-Lopez's baby Yovanny suffered severe brain damage and died in the hospital in June.

All three defendants remain in custody without bond.
