Authorities have identified three people who died when a car drove into a flooded quarry in northwest Indiana.

The car was pulled out of the water Thursday near Kentland, about 100 miles southeast of Chicago.

The car apparently had been in the water since Monday when the area was blanketed with fog. The driver may have failed to see a stop sign and drove into the quarry.

The victims were identified as 16-year-old Mirna Valencia, 28-year-old Roxana Hayde, and 59-year-old Santiago Amaya from the town of Monon.
