A man remained in jail Friday morning on charges he threatened to assassinate Barack Obama. Investigators say Raymond Giesel was overheard making threats in Miami in late July. Giesel was taking classes to become a bail bondsman. A classmate says he also made threats about President Bush.

Police say they recovered a number of weapons, including a loaded handgun and knives, during a search of Giesel's SUV and hotel room.

The ABC7 I-Team has learned that it appears all the weapons were legal to possess and the suspect claims to be a former psychiatric patient suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after childhood abuse.

Giesel says he doesn't remember making the threats.
