Director David Fincher has made one of the best films of the year. A good comparison would be 'Forrest Gump' (which happens to be one of my favorite films of all-time).
Benjamin Button (played by Brad Pitt) was born under unusual circumstances. As everyone around him grew older, he aged backwards, making the challenges of life such as creating friendships, finding a job and falling in love all the more difficult and heartbreaking.
This film will engage you emotionally, in the most pure and fulfilling ways possible. It celebrates the fine art of great storytelling by giving us an examination of a full life (birth to death).
The imagery is great, and the character work by Pitt and more importantly Cate Blanchett is astounding. Blanchett is really going to give Kate Winslet a run for her money come awards season.
While I find nothing but delight when talking about this film, it's ultimately a very sad tale, but one that is prevalent for every human being. I think everyone can walk away from this movie experience with a reminder to give thanks for the people that surround them.
Go see this film for yourself as I don't want to say too much more.
It's one of those movies that needs to be experienced, not read about in some geek's review.
It's all about the experiences my dear friends.
4 buckets.
