The child was taken to Goshen General Hospital and later transferred to South Bend.
Sumpter says the boy's name has not been released and he didn't know the boy's condition Thursday.

June 25, 2009 (NAPPANEE, Ind.) The child was pulled Wednesday from a pool in Nappanee's Stauffer Park by a lifeguard who saw him lying face down in the water. Nappanee EMS director Jim Sumpter says the lifeguard immediately began CPR and the boy "started breathing on his own" after about one minute.
